According to the Turkish Penal Code, the legal age of marriage is 18. Refugees who wish to marry in
Turkey are subject to Turkish laws and procedures. Religious marriages are not recognized in Turkey,
and an unofficial marriage with a child (any person under the age of 18) is unlawful, criminal, and
punishable under the Turkish Penal Code.
